| Well, hey! I'm a lifelong crafter, learner and laugher. This website is a conglomeration of all the stuff that makes my heart go pitty-pat. Back around the turn of the century I decided it was time to "go public" with some of my favorite hobbies. It all began with The Painted Lady Gifts & Whimsy. An outlet for my busy hands, I started out just making jewelry as a hobby. Soon, I had more jewelry than any one woman should ever wear and a desire to expand into new areas like mobiles, wine charms and other wire-based gifts. I started doing craft shows and it's just grown from there. TRIVIA: The Painted Lady is named such because when I first started selling my jewelry I thought I would use all the proceeds to invest in new tattoos. While the jewelry making and the tattoo investing both continue to this day, often they exist in separate worlds. Next came Readings by Regan tarot, meant as both a separate venture and an add on for Painted Lady events. While I have been reading tarot for over 20 years, I didn't decide to become professional until 2002. Since then Readings by Regan has had a really vibrant life of its own. When tied with a Painted Lady event, I end up doing as much tarot reading as I do selling jewelry. People really seem to respond well to the tarot. Additionally, I have started doing public events and taking private clients either in person or on email. This business was added to our reenacting life soon after, thus the development of my historical tarot interpretation. Doing my homework on creating an historically accurate tarot reader has been a challenge, but it's also been a lot of fun. This work came in extremely handy when the Kentucky Renaissance Faire came to my home county in 2006. The Cunning Woman soon followed as I wanted to expand my involvement with the Faire. Our booth even won Vendor of the Year in 2007! In November 2008, I was SO PROUD to finally open a bricks and mortar shop in Shelbyville, KY! Through the Looking Glass is the culmination of a lot of love, hard work, and joy. I carry fine teas (which you can take home or stay to drink in our Atrium) and fabulous gift items. My goal is to have as many handmade, locally made, and fair trade made items as possible, as well as the best tea and tea accessories in the region! I really enjoy the creative evolution that I appear to be continuing, and hope you will check back often to see what's new and exciting for me. Hopefully it will be new and exciting for you as well! |
